Madame Montanari made my face of glass and wax and wove into my head, a little girl's hair. A witch gave me breath, turned my strings into bone. She gave me a heart too, although it does not beat.

I spent a very long time as a daughter and even longer in the company of those not quite like me, but a little more than like you.
